State Tests Are Ridiculous!

As an educator for over forty-two-years, I decided to open a fun place where children come to learn, play, socialize and laugh.

The number of students who walk through my door, tell me they are not smart, cannot learn, etc. and are full of anxiety.

When did we start listening to test makers who some are not educators, nor have they ever been? Yes, it is about the great American dollar! It is not about your child and accountability.

Since the 80's, Texas has had their fair share of testing. Most of the tests did show areas of weaknesses and strengths and were excellent guides for what children could improve on throughout the up and coming years.

There were also parties, creative teaching, writing and fun with learning. The students did, most anyway, very well, graduated and are now successful professionals.

What are we doing to our younger generation besides creating a mess of anxious and depressed kids? Why do we allow state tests to upset and destroy confidence? Remember, this is about money- it is in no way about your child!

Research through The Pediatric Society and Melissa and Doug Toys confirm without play, the inner child will not develop properly. We wonder why we see so many angry young people now? If you do not develop the social emotion part of of children, you are teaching robots who can take and pass a test, but who are unhappy young people without social skills needed to successfully participate in life and a thriving work environment.

Why? It is time to start asking more questions about who is behind state testing. Who is creating the test? Where does the money come from and who ends up with it?

Your child's future is worth investigating the tactics, the people and the money behind our current state assessment.

Ask any professional who knows about childhood growth and education- the answer may surprise you!

When I open my door to learning in the future, it would be a pleasure to see a child without anxiety, and one who feels good about themselves and academics- not a failure at learning!
